A Few Tips for Laser Cutting Machines in Winter
Fiber laser cutting machines, offering speed, precision, and efficiency, have revolutionized the manufacturing industry. During the winter months, it's important to take extra care of your laser cutting machines to keep them running smoothly. Cold weather and tough conditions can affect their performance and lifespan. To ensure optimal performance and durability, these laser systems require proper maintenance akin to any other industrial equipment. So, how do you maintain it? Here are some tips from Xianming Laser to maintain and extend the lifespan of fiber laser cutting machines in winter:
First, We Need to Understand the Temperature Required for Laser Equipment to Work
The laser machines needs to reach a specific temperature to operate properly. The ideal room temperature for the laser is around 22°C. The chiller's low temperature should be set between 20-24°C, and the high temperature should be set between 28-30°C. The chiller should run for at least 20 minutes before the laser is used.
If the laser alarm goes off right after turning on the machine, or if the laser doesn't start, please turn on the system or chiller to warm up the water (5-10 minutes). Once the temperature reaches above 20°C, the laser can be started, ensuring the chiller’s temperature is at the right level.
So, Antifreeze Measures for Laser Equipment
1. Maintain the Right Ambient Temperature
Keep the working environment temperature of the laser above 0°C. Ideally, set the room temperature to at least 5°C using heating if needed.
2. Keep the Chiller Running
In areas with no power outages, keep the chiller running continuously. Set both the low-temperature and normal-temperature water to around 5°C to ensure the cooling water stays above freezing and to save energy.
3. Drain the Cooling Water
After each use, be sure to drain the cooling water from both the laser and the chiller to prevent freezing.
If the operating environment frequently experiences power outages and draining the cooling water daily isn't possible, antifreeze must be used. Always use antifreeze specifically designed for laser equipment—never use automotive antifreeze! Antifreeze helps prevent freezing, but it doesn't provide heating or insulation. In areas with very low temperatures, take extra care to protect the equipment to avoid damage.
Following these tips will help your fiber laser cutting machine perform at its best and last longer. Regular maintenance can prevent costly repairs, reduce downtime, and improve production efficiency and cutting quality.
